National Science Day, 2022 celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala
National Science Day was celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala by the Biological and Physics Societies to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman. The theme for this year’s Science Day celebrations was ‘Integrated Approach in Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future’. The Biological and Physics Societies organized various online events like Science Quiz, Caption contest and Scientific Rangoli making for the undergraduate and postgraduate students of Science stream.
Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar in his message to the students, highlighted on the importance of consolidative approach in Science and Technology for sustainable development. He talked about adopting a cohesive approach incorporating all disciplines of science for making such innovations possible which will help in sustaining livelihoods, sustaining human life, and for India to emerge as a leader in science He appreciated the Biological and Physics Societies for organizing the various events online with the help of various virtual tools.
47 students participated in the Science Quiz organised by the Biological Society, Alisha Jindal (B.Sc. III, Medical) won the first position, Second position was bagged by Pankaj Goyal (B.Sc. I, Medical) and third position was won by Mandeep Kaur (M.Sc. I, Biotechnology). Consolation prize was given to Dilpreet Kaur (B.Sc. III, Medical).
In the caption contest 26 students of Physics Society participated. Navjot Kaur (B.Sc. III, Computer Science) and Anjali Saklani (B.Sc. II, Computer Science) with caption ‘Surprisingly, we treat like garbage the people who clean the garbage for us’ and ‘A man spreading the trash, is a trash himself to the society’ respectively bagged the first position . Sadhik Verma (B.Sc. II, Computer Science) won the second position with the caption ‘All contributions, even the littlest one, can make it huge whether it’s Pollution or Solution’. Janvi Singla (B.Sc III, Computer Science) and Ishwinpreet Kaur (B.Sc. III, Computer Science) bagged the third position for the caption ‘Cleanliness is necessity, let’s accomplish it by humanity and maintain sustainability’ and ‘When trash becomes a commodity, what trial does it leave!’ respectively.
9 students participated in Scientific Rangoli competition, Bhawna (B.Sc. III, Non-Medical) won the first position, second position was bagged by both Kirandeep Kaur B.Sc. (III, Non-Medical) and Ridhika (B.Sc.III, Non-Medical). Third position was shared by both Reeta (B.Sc. II, Non-Medical) and Vishali (B.Sc. III, Non-Medical). Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Dr. Manish Kumar and Dr. Bhanvi adjudged the competitions.
Dr. Ashwani Sharma (Dean, Life Sciences), Dr. Kuldeep Kumar (HOD, Dept. of Biotechnology), Dr. Kavita (HOD, Dept. of Physics) and Dr. Bhanvi congratulated the winners of various competitions. The faculty of Department of Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology and Physics actively organised and conducted the various competitions.
